As a birthday gift to both of us Bridget and I went to Cancun for a week to celebrate and relax. Since I was away all summer we never truly got a beach vacation together. So this was our chance to enjoy what we missed. Some might say it is unfair as I had a chance to go to the beach at Barcelona and to a beach in the Netherlands. But those peoples opinions aren't important.
We found a nice all inclusive hotel called the Royal Cancun that had a good deal so we went to this all suites hotel and had a blast. Even though our everything that could go wrong on our flights down did including flights being delayed and having to be switched to other flights, more delays, lost luggage and our specific room not being available. We had a great time and were relaxed knowing somewhere warm awaited us.
The hotel was an all inclusive so all our food, drinks and pretty much anything else you can think of was included in the original cost we paid. It was nice not having to concern ourselves with carrying more than a couple of dollars for tips. Not having to bring anything but our keys with us. The trip was perfect. We just sat in a cabana every day went in the ocean at least once a day, and into the pool and hot tub multiple times. What a relaxing way to spend a week.
Here is a view of the pool from our balcony. The pool was long and narrow and ran the length of the hotel. Which was great as parts of the pool were loud and filled with activity while others like near where we sat everyday were quiet and peaceful.
Ah this warms me up just looking at it, this is the view we had from the cabana we spent our days at each day. it was great the pool was just a few steps behind us. The ocean and its amazing blue green color a few steps away. Really nothing could be better, well this setting combined with wait service really makes life perfect.
This has become a bit of a tradition for us to put our initials in the sand on the beaches we are. Always close to the water line so only to have a brief time making our mark on the sand then to be washed away.
It was so great to be able to get away and enjoy a week of relaxation and fun. No worrying about work for Bridget, miles away from my looking for a job. And far from the cold. It was a great trip, and one that we enjoyed quite a bit.
When we returned to Boston we had pretty uneventful flights. But there was a fresh 8-10 inches of snow on the ground to greet us. And in the 5 days since we have been back there has been record cold temperatures, and another 6-8 inches of snow on the way tonight. But it was fun while it lasted.
